This is what an NFL rookie can look forward to: Chronic Pain, Osteoarthritis, Brain Injuries, Mental Health Issues, Short Career, Early Death

This is what an NFL rookie can look forward to (in order to entertain Americans).

This is what an NFL rookie can look forward to in order to make millions of dollars for NFL owners and television networks.

Chronic Pain: Many retired NFL players experience chronic pain due to injuries sustained during their careers.

Osteoarthritis: This is common, especially in the lower limbs, due to the high-impact nature of the sport.

Brain Injuries: Concussions and repeated head trauma can lead to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease.

Mental Health Issues: Depression and anxiety are prevalent among former players, often exacerbated by chronic pain and the transition to life after football.

Career Length
The average NFL career is relatively short, lasting about 3.3 years. This is due to the physical demands and high risk of injury associated with the sport.

Long-term Impact
The long-term health impacts can be significant. Brain injuries, in particular, can shorten life expectancy and lead to severe cognitive and emotional issues. Additionally, the transition to life after football can be challenging, with many players struggling to find a new purpose and manage their health issues.

Who gets the money from all this pain?

NFL owners make over $7 billion annually just from TV contracts.

CBS makes $867 million from advertising.
NBC makes $909 million.
Fox makes $1.44 billion.
ESPN/ABC make about $285 million.
